In short
ManageEngine OpManager is on-premises network monitoring software that tracks the availability and performance of routers, switches, firewalls, servers and virtual machines. The same vendor also makes ITSM, endpoint, Active Directory and log management products. CybUp handles OpManager implementation, device discovery, alarm tuning and reporting, and also installs and configures products such as ServiceDesk Plus, Endpoint Central, ADManager Plus and Log360.
What is ManageEngine OpManager, and what does it monitor?
OpManager is ManageEngine’s network monitoring product. It monitors routers, switches, firewalls, load balancers, wireless controllers, servers, virtual machines, printers and storage devices, and also covers virtualisation platforms such as VMware, Hyper-V, Citrix, Xen and Nutanix. It is installed on premises on Windows or Linux.
The product comes in Standard, Professional and Enterprise editions. Professional adds agent-based and virtual environment monitoring; Enterprise uses a probe-central architecture to monitor several sites from one place. If you have branch offices, settling which edition you need before installation saves the hassle of upgrading the licence later.
Compared with Zabbix, OpManager is a commercial product that needs less manual tuning after installation and comes with its graphical interface and reports ready to use. If you are considering an open-source alternative, see our Zabbix monitoring page; we install both, and we make the choice with you based on what you need.
“OpManager can monitor Hyper-V, VMware, Citrix, Xen, and Nutanix HCI servers.”
How is ManageEngine OpManager installed and set up?
Installation starts with sizing the server: the number of devices and interfaces to monitor, the data retention period and the choice of database. Next, SNMP is prepared on network devices (SNMPv3 by preference), WMI access on Windows servers, SSH or SNMP on Linux servers, and a read-only account on the virtualisation platforms. These credentials are entered into OpManager as profiles.
During discovery, IP ranges are scanned and the devices found are classified by type. Rather than monitoring everything from the first scan, we sort devices into groups by importance, and we monitor uplinks, server ports and WAN interfaces, not user ports. That way you use your licence coverage properly and get alarms that mean something.
Picture an insurance agency with 250 staff, a three-floor head office and two branches. At head office there is a core switch, floor switches, two firewalls, twelve servers and two Hyper-V hosts. OpManager is installed at head office; the branch firewalls and switches are monitored over the WAN, with latency and packet loss thresholds defined to track line quality.
How do you configure OpManager alarms and reports?
OpManager works with threshold-based performance monitors and colour-codes alarms by severity. The default thresholds are general-purpose; a database server that routinely runs at high CPU needs different thresholds from a file server. We set alarm rules by device group so that only meaningful events are notified, by email, SMS or an integrated channel.
For reporting, we schedule a monthly availability summary for management and, for the IT team, reports such as top resource consumers and WAN link utilisation. Instead of arguing about whether “the line is too slow”, you can decide by looking at the last three months of usage.
“OpManager correlates raw network events, filters unwanted events, and presents meaningful alarms to the operator. Alarms are color-coded and classified based on severity levels.”
What are the other ManageEngine products used for?
ManageEngine’s product range is broad, and having one team install them keeps integration and identity settings consistent. These are the products we come across most often and what they are typically used for:
- ServiceDesk Plus: incident, problem, change and asset management (ITSM) for your IT team, on premises or in the cloud
- Endpoint Central: patching, software deployment, asset inventory and remote access for Windows, Mac, Linux and mobile devices
- ADManager Plus: bulk user provisioning, workflows and reports for Active Directory and Microsoft 365
- Log360: log management, SIEM, Active Directory auditing and compliance reports
What should you watch for when implementing ServiceDesk Plus, Endpoint Central, ADManager Plus and Log360?
When setting up ServiceDesk Plus, we configure the category tree, priority and SLA rules, approval workflows and email-to-ticket settings to match your processes. We set the product up for your own IT team to use and train them on it; we do not provide end-user support to your staff.
For Endpoint Central, agents are deployed through GPO, patch policies are trialled on a pilot group first, and approval and deployment windows are then defined. With ADManager Plus, we set up joiner and leaver workflows, delegation and scheduled reports; it is a practical way to keep an Active Directory clean-up from slipping back.
When implementing Log360, we decide which logs to collect (domain controllers, file servers, firewalls), how long to keep them and which events should raise alerts. Keeping access logs is one of the technical measures under KVKK, Türkiye’s Personal Data Protection Law (Law No. 6698), so this work can be handled together with our KVKK technical measures scope.
How do you fix a half-finished ManageEngine implementation?
A situation we see often: the licence was bought and the product installed, but discovery was never finished, alarms go to a mailbox nobody reads, or the agents are not running on half the devices. In that case we start by reviewing the current configuration and reporting what works and what is missing.
Then we work through the version upgrade, database health, credential profiles and alarm rules in turn. We show you where to get the most value without going beyond your licence coverage, and give your team a short training session. You buy the licence from ManageEngine or an authorised sales channel; we handle installation and configuration.
What you receive
- Product and edition recommendation, with server sizing
- OpManager installation, credential profiles and device discovery

How we work
- 1
Free review
We listen to what you have, which licences you hold and what you expect, then recommend the ManageEngine product that fits.
- 2
Preparation
The server, database, SNMP/WMI access and service accounts are prepared.
- 3
Installation and discovery
The product is installed, devices or users are discovered and groups are created.
- 4
Configuration
Thresholds, alarm rules, workflows and reports are set up for your environment.
- 5
Training and handover
Your team is trained and the documentation handed over; regular support can continue if you want it.
Frequently asked questions
Do we buy the ManageEngine licence from you?
No. You buy the licence from ManageEngine or an authorised sales channel. We work out the product, edition and licence scope you need, and carry out the installation and configuration.
OpManager or Zabbix: which should we choose?
If you want a commercial product with ready-made reports and a graphical interface that needs less manual tuning, OpManager may suit you; if you want a platform with no licence cost that can be configured flexibly, Zabbix may be the better fit. We install both and give you our recommendation in writing, with the reasons.
Can OpManager monitor branch offices?
Yes. Branches can be monitored from head office over the WAN. With many sites, the Enterprise edition’s probe-central architecture lets you install a probe at each site and collect the data centrally.
Can you fix our existing ManageEngine installation?
Yes. We first review the current configuration and report what is missing or wrong, then fix the upgrade, discovery, alarm and report settings.
If you set up ServiceDesk Plus, will you handle our tickets?
No. We install and configure ServiceDesk Plus for your own IT team to use; we do not provide end-user support. We do help with problems relating to the product itself.
Can the implementation be done remotely?
Installing and configuring most ManageEngine products can be done remotely. If a server needs mounting or devices need configuring on site, we work on site in Istanbul.
How much does a ManageEngine implementation cost?
We give you a written quote once we have reviewed the scope, and the review is free. The quote depends on the number of products to install, the number of devices or users to cover and any integration needs.
